First of all, I dive in an area that's impractical to access by boat due to lack of nearby ports, kind of a nightmare to get to by any kayak that weighs more than 50lbs, and popular enough that the swimmable spots get a good bit of pressure.
I'm *constantly* thinking about different dive platforms that can carry me and my gear up to 2 miles out, without breaking my back getting the launch and load up done. The scout is *super* lightweight and easy to carry down even cliffside trails. Where I especially notice it is at the end of the day when I'm worn out and everything is soaking wet.
This platform is incredible to use. I prefer to use it as a kayak seated, but it works great as a SUP as well. Often if I'm covering a lot of ground, I'll sit and paddle, then stand up when I'm looking to sight spot reef and fish on good visibility days.
I've towed friends out on boogie boards without noticing them behind me, and almost always stow both of our gear. The volume and width of this SUP really set it apart, and it is incredibly stable on the water. Another thing I really love about it is the number of D rings for lashing down everything securely. This thing has a *ton* of utility. It's also really hard for me to focus on one activity, so I'm usually bringing a lobster bag, scallop bar, spear gun, etc and I always feel like I have plenty of room for my gear.
The mesh backpack also is perfect for stowing gear for surf launch/landing quickly and easily without having to rely on a bunch of leashes or straps or bungees to securely protect everything from a yard sale.
Incredibly durable and really well built. It feels like a tuna float, but stretched out. Very well built. The foam decking is an especially nice touch as well.
The only recommendation I'd make is to buy an AC car adapter powered mattress inflator with a tire attachment so you can pump it up without wearing yourself out on the hand pump.
